Marsden colleagues rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in at Primrose Lodge for our first volunteering team day, following the launch of our Volunteering Leave scheme.

Armed with loppers, saws and an extra layer of waterproofs (classic British summertime), we teamed up with the Ribble Rivers Trust (External) to tackle the overgrowth that was encroaching on the pathways at Primrose Lodge in Clitheroe.

From battling brambles to battling the rain, it was great to see the transformation of the pathways and the day was enjoyed by all. After all, we northerners aren’t phased by a bit of rain!

Here’s what some of our colleagues had to say:

“It was good to team up with colleagues that I’ve not worked with before and carry out tasks that I would never think of doing. It was also pleasing to see what we had achieved as a group and feel good about doing something for the local community."

– Mike, Operational Risk & Conduct Manager

“I really enjoyed the volunteering day despite all of the rain! It was good to get to know some colleagues that I otherwise may not interact with, so I would encourage others to get involved with volunteering for both the social and community aspects.”

– Rhys, Assets & Liability Management Apprentice

“It was great to spend time with colleagues from across the business whilst giving something back to our local area. The Volunteering Leave scheme is a great initiative and I’m looking forward to the next Marsden volunteering day.”

– Jas, Marketing Manager

“It was lovely to work with colleagues on something that makes a difference in the local community. Everyone enjoyed the environment and doing something a bit different for a few hours.”

– Phil, Risk Director

“I enjoyed making a difference in the local community and the work we were doing generated satisfying results. It was also great to spend the time with colleagues I don’t always get to work with, having fun and challenging ourselves.”

– Hayley, Head of People

Our new volunteering initiative is just one of our latest schemes designed to support our local communities. By providing our colleagues with up to two paid volunteer days a year, we’re not only supporting local projects but also fostering a stronger sense of community spirit amongst our teams.
